Disconnected from DVR after updates from Dyn Updater

Good morning! We have a DynDNS Pro / Remote Access account, and have two hostname location1.dyndns.org and location2.dyndns.org. In location1 I used the update client of the router while in location2 I installed Dyn Updater Beta v4.9.7 on one of the PC. Please take note that location1 and location2 are geographically separated and have separate internet connections. The problem is that whenever Dyn Updater (location2) updates its hostname's (location2.dyndns.org) IP address it ALSO updates the IP address of location1.dyndns.org. Leaving me disconnected to the DVR of location1. Do we need to purchase another DynDNS Pro account for location2 for this to work? Thank you, Koymackoy

I am running the new update client v4.9.7 on windows 8. I hoped this new version would help me to get rid of the problem that the update does not happen automatically that I had with the older clients. I can get an update to success when i click to configure selcted hosts , however I have to do that always manually. Only it that case I can get in the log file: "daemon - INFO - Updated host terragis.dyndns.org successfully." In the log file I find lots of entries stating " frontend - WARNING - API error: Error connecting to checkipv6.dyndns.org. Please verify your internet connection and try again." see below How can I fix that ! Karsten 2014-02-12 09:30:15,575 - frontend - WARNING - API error: Error connecting to checkipv6.dyndns.org. Second user account

Hello everyone, Let's see if I can explain myself well enough. I have used Dyn Standard DNS Service for several years, no problems everything works just fine. I have about 50 hostnames for some of my customers, and I update their dynamic IP either with your Update Client Program or with the router DDNS service. In order to do that I need to fill in my DYN's official user name and password along with my email address. Now my user and password have been discovered by some of my customer, my question is: Can I create/have another user and password just to update the dynamic IP DDNS? I don't want my customer to log into my DYN account and make whatever they like. Also if I change my password, should I change it in every router and Update Client Program as well? Thanks in advance for your support.

Dyn updater service does not start properly after Computer starts. When I log in after starting the computer, I see a UAC dialog,![alt text][1]. If I select No, I get the following notice ![alt text][2] and the service does not start. After that, if I manually start the service, it starts OK, no UAC dialogs or anything. Even if I log out and log in again, no UAC dialogs or anything. After reboot, same problem repeats after the first login. Windows 7 SP1, 32 bit.. Updater Settings When Out of Town

Most of the time, the laptop that has the dyndns updater installed resides at home. Very rarely do I have an issues accessing my NAS remotely via ftp using another device (phone/tablet). However, when out of town at a friend's country home, using my laptop on his wifi network, Dyndns did an IP update yesterday and now I can't access my NAS using ftp. I'm pretty sure I know what happened and probably won't be able to resolve it until I get back home. In the meantime, what settings need to be entered in the updater to avoid this from happening in the future? Right now, updater is set on automatic and and my hostname is showing as inactive. Thanks in advance.

I recently updated our free dyndns accout to dyndns pro.. Our router ceased to update the ip address. I need to know the url of the autentication server, so I can configure a a custom setup, because members.dyndns.org seem to have dissapeared. I paste the report of the update client of one of our routers. This one uses dd-wrt, the others use liksys stock firmware. Mon May 5 21:38:56 2014: INADYN: Started 'INADYN Advanced version 1.96-ADV' - dynamic DNS updater. Mon May 5 21:39:07 2014: I:INADYN: IP address for alias 'oldiescaldas.dyndns.org' needs update to '186.48.163.215' Mon May 5 21:39:37 2014: INADYN:IP: Error '0x2' resolving host name 'members.dyndns.org' Mon May 5 21:39:37 2014: W:'RC_IP_INVALID_REMOTE_ADDR' (0x12) updating the IPs. (it 0) We are very disappointed because after years of excellent free service, when we upgrade to paid service all our setup got useless. I tried Dynupdater 5.01 and it din't work (same error connecting to members.dyndns.org) Old version 4.1.1.10 worked ok Please answer me assap Jorge Bouza Metropolis FM Oldies FM Montevideo Uruguay @metroldies

Need more information on domains and the update tool.

Hello. This is the second time posting this. I haven't received any replies at all to this question. I have sent emails to sales with no replies. I would call and ask, but I can't find a phone number anywhere. Original post I'm needing to find a new DDNS provider. I need to have a top level domain, which I will buy, but need to know if the update tool will work for it as my ISP is now changing my IP address every couple of days. I had a domain with Godaddy but it up for renewal in a couple of months. As far a the update tool, I will be use my Synology NAS to update the IP. Again I need to know if I can update the IP of the domain (the A record). Thanks

When I try to add my account on the automatic updater, I put in my user name and password, all I get is a message that says "Error connecting to members.dns.org. Please check your internet connection and try again" The fact that I'm able to post on this forum makes it obvious that I HAVE an internet connection. Any ideas?

The 5.0.2 client hits my disk continuously, 24/7. and the log is full of failed attempts to reach checkipv6.dyndns.org The response of email support was "use another client". Great advice guys! Really helpful. Then they come back and say its designed to continuously pummel your harddisk.. Pathetic client, useless support. Hello. a few days ago I started to have problems with dyn updater, first a problem with dyn updater (Error to starting daemon from back-end, closing), then I Uninstall and install the program using the lastest installer and the program could start witouth any issue but when I try to update a domain (IPv4 from any of my accounts) It never updates (dyn updater show last update = disabled) the log shows the following: 2014-09-27 12:13:31,366 - daemon - WARNING - This server does not support update key for account 'account' As I said, it happens with any of my accounts (each account has a domain to update). Thanks in advance and I hope you can help me faster because if this happen to the clients (who has an account ea) I will have problems.

How to incorporate updater client key into HTTP request ?

$

Following the excellent developer documentation, I have developed a DynDNS updater client. My script presently uses the base64 encoded username:password. I would like to transition to using the Client Updater Key. However, the developer documentation makes no mention of the client updater key. How do I use the client updater key? Do I simply substitute it for the encoded username:password in the Authentication header? Or, does the key get sent in the resource string perhaps? Is there any developer documentation describing how to send the client updater key in the http request? Thanks in advance BradS.

Update Client alternatives? [osx]

Hi, The current OS X Update Client is quite unfriendly for giving to multiple users to install - are there any alternatives which are simpler from a user perspective? My main gripe is that after entering the login details a user must then select their specific hostname from the list in the account - if they mess that up they hijack someone else's hostname. It would be much nicer if they could enter; domain, user/pass. Even better would be for dyn to give a login/pass for each hostname.

Updater Client Key - to L-O-N-G...

I just tried to implement the **Updater Client Key** and find that it is too long for the Password field in the router. This is a fairly new ZyXEL ZyWALL router and I'm afraid unless I am able to shorten the length of the **Updater Client Key** it can't be used. Isn't a "password" length of 32 bytes a bit l-o-n-g??? I think this ZyWALL router tops out at 24 characters in password length. How about giving me the ability to set this **Updater Client Key** with some requirements of length, complexity, etc. Dyn, don't stop, your going in the right direction. You just went a bit overboard on this coming out of the gate.
